Some questions which I wanted to answer :
1)" i don't get the focus on the taj. i understand the whole symbolic thing of course"
The Taj is a 106 year old monument and symbolizes MUMBAI. If you destroy the Taj you destroy a lot of people's hearts. Imagine the Qutub or the Red Fort or the Taj Mahal being destroyed. To understand the value of the Taj , you have to BE HERE in Mumbai and feel it........
2) What can we do ??
We are all literate people. Try writing to your daily newspapers and express your opinion on a platform where the whole of India can hear you. (Many people will say that they do not have the time huh !!! )
Register yourself as an active voter and get yourself a voter ID.
You can visit any of the leading news channels like TIMES NOW and HEADLINES TODAY during breaks and tell them that you want to voice your opinions. Believe me...and I am not kidding...if they see that you are earnest enough and you have credentials, they do give you the chance...Try the Radio channels if this is not possible.
Write in to the prime minister....silly you say?? Try it....and read the official response that you will receive.... Does everybody promise to do something ?? or will you resume your normal life after a week ???
3) Why the sensational journalism ???
Had the TV channels not been risking their lives, coming in the goddamn line of fire and bringing you exclusive details, we would have been waiting for the fucking morning paper to know about what happened....Give them credit when it is due...But yeah, some insensitive questions could be avoided....
Any more questions ??? Throw them up and I will reply....Finally its over though...Cheers to our commandos, the two South African commandos and the doctors who saved innumerable lives.... One thing is for sure....we are united this time .......

since this post is pretty personally aimed (and don't you dare deny it) am gonna answer in the manner i deem fit :)
1) i did not say make the attack on TAJ unimportant. i understand. i'd feel terrible if someone attacks, say, victoria memorial. however, a building can be repaired. the more than 200 lives lost would never ever come back. all i am saying is, heritage is not above human life.
but maybe this is a minority opinion. i felt the same thing when people went on and on about WTC when i was horrified about the 2k plus lives lost.
2) i can choose any damn way i want to express my take on anything. the whole point of starting a blog was to do that. i like the audience i have, and i'd leave the analyses to people who're far more qualified to understand the complexities.
as for the PM, no, i do NOT have the time or the inclination to write and receive a standard response, if at all. am surprised the so-called most qualified PM in the world needs to be directed to see the writing on the wall.
3) and you think it was all altruistic? i do applaud their bravery. however, if people are going to say inane things (would you like to tell something to your wife? goddamit that's private! and this is the longest running TV show ever... so, you're happy the terrorists are taking so long, is it?) i would call it sensationalist. barkha dutt is a seasoned pro from whom we have better expectations :)
and btw, there's no need to trash the morning paper. i'd still say it's the best way to catch up with news :)
point is abc, you and i have different opinions. what bothers me is that you appear to have a lot of problems with my stand, and i've had to defend it as if it's wrong. it's just the way i think, and you're not doing anything to change my mind. as i said, life would be easier if we agree to disagree. you do what you think is appropriate, and i do what i think it right. simple :)
excuse the typos, if any
@pseudo : if u analyse it correctly the reason why the Taj operation was delayed was cause they could not blast it like they blasted nariman house...because its heritage property..even if u rebuild it , it's never gonna be the same again...And the problem here is that you are not accepting my views in addition to yours.... Leave it...This debate will go on...
I have no problems with your stand...My problem is that you do not accept other valid points...there are several ways of looking at a thing...u can either be pessimistic or optimistic...I choose the latter because that is what the nation needs at the moment..not us vilifying it...and yeah this post was personally aimed..I wanted to answer your questions...
